After four highly successful years with Baileys – one year more than they originally signed up for – a need for marketing activities that work across different languages means they will not continue as headline sponsor beyond 2017. The Press Release can be viewed here and a piece from Kate Mosse is available here.
We are therefore today announcing our intention to find a new sponsor for the WPfF for 2018 and beyond, a sponsor that will both build on the past successes of the Prize and also help us achieve our aim to make the Prize into a year-round global platform for women’s voices. Although these are tough times, the WPfF founders & board feel there is a great opportunity to grow the Prize with the right sponsor and to make sure women’s writing of excellence, imagination and brilliance remains centre stage. The role of the Prize in celebrating, honouring and championing women’s voices worldwide is even more important in the current climate.
We have had a terrific time working with Baileys – and plans are full steam ahead to make this year’s Prize as wonderful and successful as possible – but we are also genuinely excited about the future possibilities for 2018 and beyond.
